Heartbeat - AKA Don Johnson's 1987 Number 5 Single

Last Tuesday we had another doctor’s appointment. I was very nervous about this appointment because it had been four weeks since we last heard the heartbeat – and since my body isn’t really changing, I was looking for reassurance that everything was going well. Of course, Robert was completely calm as he's got some sixth sense that the baby is just fine and progressing perfectly. The doctor had to chase Iggy around my stomach a few times to catch the heartbeat, but found it and said that it was strong, about 150. She said Iggy is very active (she could hear the baby kick) and thought things were sounding great. Our next appointment is on March 26th, and it’s the big one – the ultrasound! We can’t wait!

The count: 15 weeks, 2 days
This week Iggy is roughly the size of a softball, and weighs around 2.5 ounces. The baby's legs are growing longer than its arms now, and he/she can move all its joints and limbs. Iggy can also sense light now. According to BabyCenter.com, if we shine a flashlight at my tummy, Iggy'd be likely to move away from the beam. But I think that sounds like a mean thing to do to the poor little baby. We'll save our teasing for when Iggy is older and can fight back.
