Notes of interest:
1. Iggy is a mover! The baby was squirming all over the place during the sonogram, so it took some creative maneuvering to get the right shots. Is anyone surprised that we're having a fidgety baby?
2. All of Iggy's measurements are squarely in the middle of where they're supposed to be. Robert and I have thus far created a perfectly average child.
3. The baby's head is positioned directly on my bladder. You can guess what that means.
And the final item of note, I've been feeling slight movement from the baby for about two weeks now. This weekend we were hanging out watching TV and Iggy was going crazy! (Favorite show: 24.) I put Robert's hand on my stomach, and he felt the baby move twice! It was little bit freaky at first, but still way cool.
The count: 19 weeks, 4 days
This week the baby weighs about 8.5 ounces and measures 6 inches, head to bottom, about the length of a small zucchini. All of the baby's limbs are in the right proportion now, and the hair on Iggy's scalp is sprouting. Iggy's senses are developing and he/she may be able to hear what's going on now. The main sounds are blood moving through my vessels, digestive noises from my stomach, and my voice – the baby can hear me when I talk, and is learning to distinguish me from others. Soon Iggy should show a preference for it, and when it hears me speak, the baby's heart rate should decrease to indicate relaxation.
