Ignatius or Ignatia? Part I

Since we’re not finding out if Iggy is a boy or a girl before the big day, I thought in the interest of science we’d test the accuracy of some Old Wives’ Tales. Here is the first set of results from this extremely high tech experiment:

Carrying High/Carrying Low
The story goes that if you’re carrying low, you’re having a boy. Carrying high, you’re having a girl.
My Verdict: Carrying high.
Second Opinion via Robert: Carrying right in the middle. That’s not very helpful.
Running Tally: Girl – 1; Boy – 0

Weight Gain, Dude
Apparently, if Robert gains “sympathy weight,” then we’re having a girl. If he doesn’t, we’re having a boy.
Verdict: Right now, signs point to boy. However, there is no time limit on this tale. Robert likes hot wings and chili dogs, and there are still 9 weeks to go.
Running Tally: Girl – 1; Boy – 1

Looking Good
Face: Round and rosy is said to indicate a girl.
Verdict per Robert’s Grandmother: When we were in Louisiana, she said Kelly’s face was looking slimmer. Must be a sign for a boy!
Hands: If the skin is dry and chapped, it’ll be a boy. But if they’re softer now, the baby is a girl.
Verdict per Robert: A smidge softer than usual.
Acne: It’s said that getting acne during pregnancy indicates the woman is carrying a girl.
Kelly’s Verdict: Yes, more acne.
Second Opinion Via Robert: He abstained from answering.
Running Tally: Girl – 3; Boy – 2

Those Awesome Mood Swings
More crabby equals girl. Happy and smiling equals boy.
Verdict per Robert: Kelly’s very happy most of the time. Crazy and emotional, but happy.
Running Tally: Girl – 3; Boy – 3

Urine...Ewww
Mix the woman’s urine with Drano and observe the change in color. Directions state, “Be warned, there is possibility of explosion!”
Verdict: Yeah, we didn’t do this test.
Tally: Girl – 3; Boy – 3; Undetermined – 1

So at this point, results are split, leaving us with the same odds as before we started this experiment. Stay tuned – more Old Wives’ Tales to come.

Now I'm really curious about this Drano test. I want to see if it works. What will it take to make you try it?

that last test makes me wonder what the heck is in drano. and urine.

Huh, female urine's that unstable? Who'd would have thought. And I always just thought it was the glares that could kill.
